Akagera National Park lies in eastern Rwanda, was established 1934 and area of 1,200km². Hugging the border with Tanzania.

Situated in the Northwest of Rwanda, in Musanze district. Lies along the Virunga Mountains, with 8 ancient volcanoes, which are shared by Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Nyungwe Forest National Park was established as a national park in 2004. This happened at a time when Rwanda was on the list of top ten tourist destinations according to Lonely Planet ratings.
